Better Life

(Click the Song Title For Lyrics and Story Behind the Song)

This song is self explanatory…everyone wants a better life right?

On the other hand it’s a bit sarcastic as well. The second verse is a little jab at the “ranchers” who live in the mini-mansions somewhere in a horse friendly housing edition.
You know, the "cowboy" with taco brim who wears his spurs indoors.

Personally, I would rather live in a shack on 100 acres than a half million dollar track home in a subdivision. Thank God we live in America where he is free to live how he wants and I’m free to make fun of him.
Well I’m trapped in this occupation
About to drive me back to drinking
And the money’s slow if it ever comes in at all
It’s so hard to make a living
Every day I think of quitting
But it’s tough to quit when you’re backed up against the wall

I’ve got to find me a new job
And a better life
Buy a new house in a sub-divided neighborhood on a culdesac
My bank account will be in the black
I’ll get a new car and we’ll barbeque
In the back yard beside the pool
Don’t want the whole pie just a little slice
Every now and then I want a better life

Don’t get me wrong though I’m in a mess
I ain’t complaining because I’ve been blessed
With a beautiful wife and a couple of real fine kids
They’re the reason that I keep going
Working hard because in my heart I know
I’m going to make it to the top before too long

I’ve got to find me a new job
I’ll be a career man
I’ll buy a big house on an acre of land
Get a couple of horses and we’ll have us a mini ranch
I’ll buy a new truck maybe four wheel drive
Get some purple flames painted down the side
Don’t want the whole pie just a little slice
Every now and then I want a better life
